Joseph Prokop, Jr
JOSEPH A. PROKOP, JR. is the founder of a law firm in Baton Rougewith a practice concentrated in the areas of estate planning and administration, wills, trusts, probate, drafting probate documents, federal transfer taxes, elder law and mental health issues. He is a board certified specialist in estate planning and administration by the Louisiana State Bar Association. Mr. Prokop received his B.A. degree from Louisiana State University, his J. D. degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, an LL.M. degree in Estate Planning from the University of Miami School of Law, and an LL.M. in Elder Law from Stetson University College of Law. He is a frequent lecturer on estate planning and probate, issues affecting the elderly and disabled, and mental health law. Mr. Prokop is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Western and Middle Districts of Louisiana, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the U.S. Tax Court, the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S.Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. He serves on the Power of Attorney Committee of the Louisiana Law Institute, the Lawyers In Transition Committee of the Louisiana State Bar Association, and is the past Chairman the Estate Planning and Administration Advisory Commission of the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization. He is also a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, has been named a Louisiana Super Lawyer numerous times, and is the author of Louisiana Successions (LEXISNEXIS Third Edition).
